SELF PROMOTION / Anybody wants a Disquiet Junto Vinyl?
« on: May 20, 2013, 10:00:19 am »
Here is one very important question I want to ask you.

I am finally going to release my next album "CONSTRAINTS" which contains analogue mastered versions of my Disquiet Junto tracks. I am pretty sure some of you took part in this awesome ongoing project created by Marc Weidenbaum www.disquiet.com (for example one of the weekly tasks was to remix the track by Marcus Fischer)

The full album "CONSTRAINTS" will be released on a CDr but I want to make a lathe cut 12" vinyl with only 7 tracks from the album.

Of course it won't be cheap, cause each vinyl will be cut separately, so I want to ask you a question if you want one copy. I assume that it will cost about $30 (with the postal costs). If you pre-order the vinyl you will also get the CDr version + mp3s (320).

Please decide if you want a copy of the album and let me know before May 26th. When I know the exact number of copies I will try to negotiate the lower price. And when I know the price I will let you know and than you will transfer the money and than I will start the production process.

Here are some of the tracks which will be included on the vinyl. (Caution: these versions below are not mastered!)

SELF PROMOTION / Help me make a physical CD of "Live in May"
« on: January 13, 2013, 04:34:08 am »
Hello,

As you may know, my live release entitled "Live in May", was published in 2011 only in Digital format. You can even own it, cause it was free most of the time on my BandCamp page. From time to time I receive questions if this release can be published in physical format. I thought - why not - but I need your help to make it happen!

Some time ago I started thinking of making a limited run of CDrs in a nice hand-painted recycled cardboard package! Apart from a CD with the bonus track, the package will include the original hand-numbered cover photo (taken in Croatia) + some extras.

If you think it is OK, please support the idea and buy the digital album "Live in May" (now you can make your BandCamp collection even bigger!). If you  buy it, you will get a nice discount for the limited physical package quite soon.

Now the price is set to Polish Zloty, 4 PLN (or more) = about $1.50 (or more) = about 1.00 EUR (or more)

This music means a lot to me, cause it was recorded during the concert for a musician who suffers from multiple sclerosis (that day we managed to help the guy a lot!). I would really love to be able to hold it in my hands in a beautiful physical format. I hope you do to!

I am so excited about this and can't stop thinking about it. Thank you so much for your support!

Update, Just got up and I'm happy to announce that "Live in May" is on 3rd page of BandCamp ambient, digital best-sellers | http://bandcamp.com/discover?g=ambient&s=top&f=digital&p=3. Please help and move it to even better position :-)

A new release by a famous New York label Ohm Resistance which now concentrates on more ambient stuff:

Bojanek & Michałowski - "As Far As It Seems"

Grzegorz Bojanek & Piotr Michalowski are two Polish experimental soundscape creators. Their work together started as an improvised concert project in Zacheta National Gallery of Art in Warsaw during WEF.LIVE.LAB in 2010. Since, they have performed in several European countries and played during the Shanghai Electronic Music Week in 2011 and ChoP Festival 2012 (Shenzhen / Hong Kong). Both artists were content with their performance results and decided to record their first full length album for Ohm Resistance.

As Far As It Seems contains a mixture of traditional Chinese instruments, guitars, DIY instruments of all kinds and field recordings taken in unusual places. These arrangements create deep organic ambient soundscapes which remain in the mind of the listener for a long time. With every song, once pulled into its atmosphere, it is truly impossible to exit.

Hi there,

Here is my new release "Remaining Sounds", published by a California based label Dynamophone http://dynamophone.com/

You can get the Download and a CD here:
http://dynamophone.bandcamp.com/album/remaining-sounds

Soon a nice limited edition with the set of postcards wrapped in the tape will be released.

The first review by Richard Allen from A Closer Listen: http://acloserlisten.com/2012/08/14/grzegorz-bojanek-remaining-sounds/

A short info how the album was composed:

In 2010 when I returned home from the Shanghai Biennale where I performed with Zen Lu music to the Isaac Julien's film "Better Life", using different instruments, sometimes DIY boxes and contact microphones I realised that I don't want to use any synthesizers or plugins to create my music. I thought that all soundscapes can be created out of the remains of the sounds which you can hear using the reverbs and delays. I also thought that I can play all sounds myself, or I can use field recordings and try to find all that remaining sounds.

This was the basic idea hidden behing the project called "Remaining Sounds". I started each track with just one sound, and sometimes this sound was transformed so many times, that almost the whole track was made of it. Sometimes I started adding different sounds, to get more space. I also recorded many of the tracks into a tape, and than back into the computer to get the characteristic analogue hiss, I simply love.

I love playing traditional instruments, so I recorded many guitar loops and some piano sounds. I things which surrounded me became the source of sound recorded in many different ways.

The first sketch of the album was ready just after a few weeks. Later I started changing things and recording more tracks. When the album was almost ready I experienced a hard rive failure and lost many tracks. Than I recorded a lot of music using only Tascam 4-track taprecorder. Some of the loops created during that session were also added to the final version of the album.

Although some of the tracks sound more or less experimental, I implemented some melodies into the cpomositions. I must say, that I am a big fan of harmony and nice melodies, and no matter how hard I try to get rid of them, they simply slip into my tracks and became an integral part of the music.

The whole album was than sent to my friend Krzysztof Orluk who uses mostly analogue toys in the mastering process. One of them is the prototype tube saturator developed by a Polish engineer Andrzej Starzyk, who later incorporated it into his Looptrotter Monster Compressor.

SELF PROMOTION / ETALABEL - a few news from a small label from Poland
« on: January 23, 2012, 04:13:00 pm »
Hello everybody. I am new here but I often read the 12k forum and must say that I've found here a lot of interesting and useful posts.

I would like to introduce my label, called ETALABEL - www.etalabel.com

It is a small label, which had a long break (3 years). In 2009 I published an artist called Bionulor.
I have to say that in 2006 I also released an artist Milipop, who later published in 12k and Room40 under
his name and surname Tomasz Bednarczyk. (Please check the artist section)

Now the label is coming back with a very nice release by an artist Noiko called "Honey".

http://www.etalabel.com/index.php/noiko-honey/

In short: "Honey" is a debut album with ten instrumental electroacoustic lo-fi compositions created from various samples, sounds of a clarinet, guitar, drums, glockenspiel, piano and different electronic virtual instruments. The material consists of productions created within 4 years... The inspiration to creating this kind of sounds was the birth of the artist’s daughter, who was usually nearby during the sound recording.
The album comes in a nice DigiPack (limited edition: 100) and on BandCamp.

Please listen and let us know what you think.
