SYNTHESIZERS + SOUND-MAKING HARDWARE / NORD G2X
« on: May 04, 2012, 12:59:47 pm »
I know that there is a lot of love for the g2 modular..but what about the g2x, the big brother of g2 ? The story is that i am considering to buy it but i have never played with the g2x. I have found it for 1.600 euros ( $2.093 ) in excellent condition! and i can use a little insight from other experienced users.
For the record i am familiar with the modular concept, i heavily use the TASSMAN synth and i have experience with software like Max/MSP and Reaktor.

Thank You!  :)

Some really cool reverb plug ins... The price is extremely low for what they are capable of.
So, give them a try!

COMPUTER MUSIC / DAW opinion considering the sound quality
« on: February 02, 2012, 07:41:19 am »
Which one do you prefer...considering the sound quality.

I am thinking to change from Ableton /Logic to Ableton/Cubase (or Pro Tools). So, any help based on personal experience would be much appreciated.

STUDIO + RECORDING TECHNIQUES / Any suggestions for a good controller ?
« on: November 24, 2011, 03:25:28 am »
I am really tired mixing inside the DAW and I am looking for a good controller for Ableton and Logic. For the record, i can spend 1.000 euros or $1.400 and i would be really happy if i could find one that would give me over 8 channels to map at the same time.
So, any recommendations ?

STUDIO + RECORDING TECHNIQUES / Adam A7 special edition
« on: July 18, 2011, 10:56:54 am »
Considering to buy these:

http://www.thomann.de/gr/adam_a7_special_edition_white.htm?sid=312782424124f7ec6739d84aa91c422f

Any experience with those monitors, any feedback?

Adam doesn't produce A7 anymore but thomann's price i think it's ok.

of course you can recommend any other monitor but i can not go higher than 500 euros ( = 700 $ )

STUDIO + RECORDING TECHNIQUES / Re-amping
« on: July 03, 2011, 11:07:57 pm »
To make a long story short...i have to record/mix a band and because those guys have limited amount of budget they cannot rent a studio to use the right amps. So, i am thinking to use this re-amping technique and the basic idea behind this, is that you record the guitars with clean signal and then you direct each guitar through the amp to mic and then back inside the DAW.

So, if any of you guys have worked with this technique it will be MUCH appreciated if you can share your knowledge on this matter (what to avoid where to pay attention etc.) and of course if you could recommend any good re-amping box.

Thanks.

STUDIO + RECORDING TECHNIQUES / PhantomPower guitar ?
« on: July 02, 2011, 07:40:36 am »
Well, maybe it's a stupid question but i keep wondering if i can use the Phantom Power that my sound card provides to record my guitar...maybe this way i can strengthen the guitar signal. I don't know if it can be done and i don't know if it will make any difference to the signal.
I have read somewhere that it can be done, somehow...but i didn't pay any attention then :P

For the record i have a RME fireface 400 and basically my whole studio is a computer, guitars, midi controllers, the RME, Line 6 pod XT live and various pedals...That's why i want a technique to strengthen my guitar signal, no fancy convertors or hardwares unfortunately and mainly i work with softwares...it's just a bedroom you see....

COMPUTER MUSIC / New M4L instrument by Robert Henke
« on: April 02, 2011, 11:18:23 am »
Well, it is a sample-based granular synthesizer simply called "granulator" which i find really good and useful! I always like Hekne's tools!

download link and video here :  http://www.ableton.com/pages/max_for_live/granulator

Although i think that you have to upgrade to Live 8.2.2 in order to use it...

STUDIO + RECORDING TECHNIQUES / Mixing for Vinyl
« on: February 05, 2011, 04:09:24 am »
I have to mix a song that will be in vinyl format but I haven't done anyhting for vinyl before, so it will be the first time for me. I want to ask if I have to pay more attention to certain issues like frequencies (especially bass frequencies and probably really high frequencies as well), dB, limiters…I think that if I want to make the sound more bright I have to pay attention to the mid frequencies somewhere between 3 and 6 kHz but I don’t really know for sure.

If anyone could help would be great  :)
