SELF PROMOTION / Machinefabriek & Minus Pilots - Signals
« on: April 02, 2013, 11:01:33 am »
Out now: Minus Pilots & Machinefabriek 'Signals'.

Available on cd, right here:
http://dronarivm.com/2013/03/15/machinefabriek-minus-pilots-signals

and in digital formats, here:
http://machinefabriek.bandcamp.com/album/signals

Minus Pilots' used several electric basses together with an array of memory man delay/looping pedals to create the initial building blocks for 'Signals'. Leaving these bare sketches intact, subtly knitting them together as one piece, Machinefabriek added (sampled) clarinet, strings and voice, creating a lush sonic palette. Presented as one 35 minute piece, 'Signals' is a gentle floating patchwork of hypnotizing beauty.

SELF PROMOTION / A message from Banabila & Machinefabriek
« on: November 28, 2012, 08:32:34 am »
We, Michel Banabila and Rutger Zuydervelt, proudly present our new collaboration album, simply called 'Banabila & Machinefabriek'. It will be released December 12, on cd and as download.

Though we met quite a while ago, it took some time before before we actually started working on music together. But once we did, we quickly got caught up in an unstoppable workflow. Swapping files back and forth, layering and processing eachother's sounds, it felt like a perfect match. In a short but incredibly inspired time span, we created an exciting 40+ minute journey through warm drones, soft melodic gestures, mysterious crackling and outbursts of digital noise.

While the download presents the album as free-standing songs, the cd has the tracks jointed, making it one continuous trip. The disc comes in a digipak, with photography by Michel and design by Rutger.

Listen to a preview of the album (with snippets of all tracks) here:
http://soundcloud.com/machinefabriek/banabila-machinefabriek

The cd and download are now available as pre-order at Machinefabriek's Bandcamp page.
http://machinefabriek.bandcamp.com/album/banabila-machinefabriek

The cd costs 13 euro (including postage), the download is 7 euro.
If you prefer to buy the album without using bandcamp, send an e-mail to post@machinefabriek.nu

SELF PROMOTION / Windtunnel - free download
« on: July 12, 2012, 05:53:26 am »
A freeby:

Rutger Zuydervelt & Espen Reinertsen "Windtunnel"

Download here:
http://machinefabriek.bandcamp.com/album/windtunnel-free-download

Windtunnel was originally presented as an installation for the arcade of the NAi (Netherlands
Architecture Institute) in Rotterdam, during North Sea Round Town, July 6th 2012. Four notes
repeated with variant intervals are played through four seperate loudspeakers positioned
throughout the passageway. Walking through the arcade, the emphasis shifts from one note
to the other, giving the listener an active role in his experience of the piece. This stereo track
gives an impression of that experience.

PIERDRIE dvd

An audio-visual collaboration by Marco Douma (visuals), Roel Meelkop (sound) and Rutger Zuydervelt (sound).
Pierdrie was originally presented as an installation with 3 monitors and 4 speakers, at Hommes gallery in Rotterdam.
It was translated to a live performance at the International Film Festival Rotterdam this year. And now you can bring
Pierdrie to your home, 'cause we just released it as a DVD. Obviously, this version is adapted for one monitor, but
if you have a surround sound system, the audio will be close to as it was in the installation. Of course there's also
the option to go for stereo sound.

The Pierdrie film deals with the Waalhaven harbour in Rotterdam. All video and audio material was captured at pier 3,
which gives a fantastic view over the harbour. Despite the noisy, industrial surrounding, being on the pier can be an
incredibly tranquil experience. Distant sounds are taken over the water, through the air, softening the clanging of heavy
machinery to a immersive sound palette. This project is our attempt to translate our experience into an audio-visual work.

To get an impression, check this fragment on youtube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UkCemMFAjJQ

The DVD has the 18 minute Pierdrie film, with stereo or surrounf sound option.
It comes in a nice matte full colour digipack, and costs 14 euro including postage.
To order, you can either send an to post@machinefabriek.nu,
or buy it at the Machinefabriek Bandcamp page: http://machinefabriek.bandcamp.com/

When you buy it at Bandcamp, you immediatly receive the soundtrack as audio file in mp3 or flac format.

According to Discogs, Celer (Will Long) has 64 releases, and Machinefabriek (Rutger Zuydervelt) 99. You can add one to both, 'cause Will and Rutger joined forces to create the 7-inch 'Maastunnel/Mt. Mitake'. Originally meeting and performing in Tokyo together in November 2010, the two began a collaboration in October 2011 by sending audio files back and forth. By the end of November, two tracks were completed, constructed from hours of material, 'materializing' the Tokyo-Rotterdam connection.

The artwork was found by Will Long in a nostalgia shop in Jimbocho, Tokyo, the area famous for its many used bookshops, and the sleeve was designed by Rutger Zuydervelt. 'Mt. Mitake' is a mountain to the west of Tokyo, which Will Long climbed on the day between finding the artwork, and finishing the track. The other piece is called 'Maastunnel', named after the tunnel that connects the banks of the Nieuwe Maas in Rotterdam. You'll hear recordings of the tunnel's old wooden escalators, creating a fascinating symphony of squeaks and howls.

'Maastunnel/Mt. Mitake' was created to celebrate the upcoming Celer / Machinefabriek tour of The Netherlands and Belgium in March of 2012.
