SYNTHESIZERS + SOUND-MAKING HARDWARE / Re: teenage engineering OP-1
« on: August 15, 2012, 01:19:00 pm »
hey, quite enjoying this little thing, the workflow really grew on me. I only wish the click issue with the tape loop would get fixed as I'd love to layer over the start and end point without annoying clicks... also my first patches seemed to clip the output easily. At the moment I finally started organizing my own presets/samples in that machine and hope that future os updates fix the click issue. I sample the op-1 a lot into my boss sp 303 and get some nice stuff out of this combination. the effects on the sp 303 is quite useful if you want gritty/dirty lofiness. All in all, I am happy I have the op-1 but still feel it is overpriced.

Not that interesting if you already have the CDs which I feel is an OK format for these albums. I'd rather spend the little money I spend on records these days on something else. That being said, I am pretty sure the box will sell like hot cakes. But I just bought the Codeine Box set...

that's my biggest complain as it does not overload nicely but you'll get horrible digital crackles when the levels get too hot or the track too overloaded...

not sure I understand, If you keep the level slider all the way up on the track you record onto, the original signal should not get lost. I actually use the "slow drown out" thing a lot... I usually go down to 60% as then the loop evolves more as it changes if you play on top...

I stopped using the computer mostly due to the 2880 as I love the simple/reduced set-up. (never used four tracks, a max of 3 I think)...

I have it in the send/return of a small mixer.

Good to hear  :), I simply assumed as I had issues with the boss sp samplers and the ehx 2880 trying to use the "biggest supported" storage cards. Also on the zoom h2 it makes quite a difference to the boot up speed.
However, you might save yourself some money, I run a "small" card at the moment (512?) and never went over the limit... loops are usually around 10-30 seconds...

Btw, I asked ehx about "hot swapping" the cf cards as I did not want to f' up my looper
... the official answer was:
"As long as the 2880 is not recording, overdubbing or playing back a loop, you can swap the cards. That should not present any problems."

I recommend using smaller cards.
I tried using the 2gb ones and they did not work well, 512 mb should be well enough!
