digital will become available when the cassette is sold out. (aka break even & an empty shelf :))
do remember you get a download code when buying the cassette, but i can understand people that no longer want to store physical formats..
i think within a month or two or so, it should be available digital as well.
thanks for interested!
and ralph, thanks for the nice comment!!

thanks for the answers! didn't know mackie was the best for price/quality in the lower price range.
sends are important though... so i'll be looking around some more.

and don't worry billy, based on the experiences i've had, i won't be buying behringer again.. :)

STUDIO + RECORDING TECHNIQUES / small portable mixing desk
« on: April 06, 2012, 05:06:47 am »
didn't know wether i should put this in "synthesizer" board or this one. but here goes;

i'm looking for a small, sturdy, portable mixing desk that travels easily. it needs to have at the very least 4 (mono)jack inputs and possibilites for XLR / RCA as well. most importantly, it has to work well with sends. preferably 2. and especially pre-fader.

right now i have this old yamaha mg10/2 which would have been perfect, though it sends are always distorted. it seems like the sends knobs are way too sensitive, it's practically useless. since i was planning on getting a second mixer anyway, it is of less importance. - if the mixer has good pre-amps i'm twice as happy.

i know i could google all this, but figured that the 12k peeps probably have the best answer. :)

i love those hapna inner sleeves.. they're not that expensive.. (but obviously not free, and you still have to put the cd in those too)

for me a redesign or sticking to the old are equally attractive.

though i'm all for less plastic.
and i'd be really curious for the redesign :)

so maybe a redesign after all :)

willamette - echo park (wonderful ambient)
spinvis - tot ziens justine keller (dutch songs, nice, simple, humble and fun)
nils frahm - felt (this is how i want piano's to sound)
talons' - songs for boats (best acoustic record of 2011)
stephan mathieu - a static place (so gentle)
simon scott - bunny (nice shoegaze elements)

should post my end of year list here soon too! :)

if they wouldn't break down, they would be perfect :)
heard many complaints in that area about the DL4... i've had the same issue. though the DL4 looper is really good, as are most of the delays.

my strymon delay hasn't broken down yet, so that one has my vote :)

STUDIO + RECORDING TECHNIQUES / Re: Release on Vinyl and MP3 ONLY?
« on: July 23, 2011, 01:19:07 pm »
in 2004 phil elverum released an LP by thanksgiving ("welcome nowhere", one of my all time fav records) which had the LP burnt onto a cdr (or cd) - you could hear the needle dropping in the beginning & half way + some typical vinyl cracks/dusts/pops/artefacts. for some records it's a perfect idea, for others it might be not the way you want to go. in this case, being my first encounter with it, i thought it was absolutely brilliant.

definitely check this record out if you enjoy nylon string guitars + singing. probably the most humble record i know.

OTHER MUSIC / stores
« on: January 28, 2011, 08:43:15 am »
hello,
i thought there was a thread discussing this, but i can't seem to find it.

i was wondering where everyone gets his records (most often). which are the practical places you end up the most. i guess for many it will be ebay/discogs or the local record store.

i'm probably not the most interesting person to start this thread, because i'm biased because of my first choice:

1st. jj records. parijsstraat 32, leuven, belgium. as i worked there, it's pretty logical for me to order everything through them. i think i get about 90% of my records here. they do have a good selection of indie cd & vinyl, some electronics (always the basic good stuff). some secondhand.

2nd. directly with the artist/label. if i can't get it at JJ records, i order always directly with the artist or the label.

obviously there's the awesome experimedia / norman / boomkat / aquarius / forced exposure etc from this world, but i actually don't end up there that much.

anyone else wants to share?

ART / Re: interesting RSS feeds?

for art/drawings/photographs i enjoy http://butdoesitfloat.com/ a lot (check the archive too!)

basically it's just nice-to-excellent art in your rss inbox every few days. sometimes by famous people (from miro to antony hegarty), sometimes artists who are just starting out. (or so it seems)

Too bad i'm missing the first  7"

which one would that be?

i just looked this up again on discogs. Although it's catalog number 001 it was released in 2006. It's called Helen Lundeberg / Eyeliner.

ah ok :) - you're right, though i never realized it was part of their SYR catalog, i always assumed it was some rather ripped promo/bonus single.

i was already scared i missed something. i have way too much SY to be healthy... =)
